Dr. Chitraa R Chandran

MDS (Periodontia)

A clinical director, dental practitioner, and proprietor of Chitra Dental Clinic, Dr. Chitraa R Chandran is a household name in West Mambalam, and in Chennai as a whole. Synonymous with patient satisfaction, the brand of Chitra Dental Clinic has grown under her able guidance for the past 42 years.

She graduated from the Tamil Nadu Government Dental College & Hospital (then the Madras Dental College & Hospital) in 1984 and went on to continue onto her MDS in Periodontology from the same institution in 1988.

Her journey has been an inspiring one - having established her private practice from the living room of her home at Kodambakkam in 1984, she later moved her practice to a small bijou in Arya Gowda Road, West Mambalam in 1988, before moving down the road to the current establishment in 2000.

Her career as an educator began as a Reader in Ragas Dental College & Hospital, Chennai, in 1988; her passion for teaching propelled her growth, going on to become a Professor at the same institution, and later Vice-Principal at Thai Moogambigai Dental College & Hospital in 2004, before subsequently becoming the Principal and Head of the Department of Periodontics at Tagore Dental College & Hospital in 2007. She was awarded the Best Teacher Award in 2013 by then Hon’ble Governor of Tamil Nadu, Mr. K. Rosaiah, for her excellent contributions towards nurturing the next generation of dentists.

About Our Clinic

Welcome to Chitra's Dental Clinic, a trusted dental care center serving the West Mambalam community for over 42 years.

Conveniently located on Arya Gowder Road, near Anjugam School, our clinic is situated on the ground floor, making it easily accessible for children, senior citizens, and patients with mobility concerns.

Our clinic is equipped with three modern dental chairs and advanced technology that enables precise diagnosis, comfortable treatment, and high standards of patient care. We use state-of-the-art equipment including dental lasers, digital RVG (Radiovisiography), intraoral scanners, implant systems, digital X-ray units, apex locators, endomotors, LED light-curing units, and advanced sterilization systems.

Every aspect of our practice reflects our commitment to patient safety. Our clinical team follows strict infection-control protocols by wearing appropriate personal protective equipment. All instruments are thoroughly sterilized in an autoclave after every use, and each dental chair and clinical surface is meticulously cleaned and disinfected between patients. Air purification systems further enhance the cleanliness and comfort of our treatment environment.

Led by Dr. Chitraa Ramachandran, a Periodontist with expertise in gum diseases and training in Endodontics and Implantology, our clinic offers comprehensive dental care under one roof. Specialist consultants in Orthodontics, Endodontics, Implantology, and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery work together to provide coordinated, high-quality treatment tailored to every patient's needs.

Dr. Chitraa Ramachandran

Founder & Chief Dental Surgeon

Dr. Chitraa Ramachandran has been serving the West Mambalam community for over 42 years. A Periodontist specializing in the prevention and treatment of gum diseases, she is also trained in Endodontics and Implantology. Alongside her successful private practice, she has dedicated 35 years to dental education, mentoring more than 2,500 students, and served as Principal for 14 years. Her philosophy is simple: every patient deserves honest advice, ethical treatment, clinical excellence, and compassionate care.

Dr. Rithu

Associate Dental Surgeon

Dr. Rithu has been an integral part of Chitra's Dental Clinic for 12 years. A former student of Dr. Chitraa, she has been personally mentored and trained in the clinic's patient-centered approach. She is known for her gentle manner, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering high-quality dental care while continuing the values on which the clinic was founded.
